Kitesurfing Costa Rica

Costa Rica

Despite its relatively small area, Costa Rica features incredibly varied topography. There are active volcanoes, impressive mountain ranges, towering rain forests and secluded white sand beaches with great surf.

Costa Rica is washed by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The Pacific coast sees increased swells and bigger, faster waves during the rainy season, peaking in the worst rainy months of September and October. The Caribbean side has better waves from November through May.

Opinion:

"Costa Rica is extreme sports meca. Boasts incredible consistent surf and world known riding spots all up the coast. Famous surfing towns. Pavones, 2nd longest left in world. Dominical, Hermosa, Jaco, Tamarindo, Boca Boranca, 4th longest left, Witches Rock.

Once you are in north west area or Guanacaste, not only is there amazing surf, but the wind kicks. I mean seriously windy!! Over 20mph everyday!!! Seriously everyday, we ride in far NW corner in bay called Bahia Salinas.

Costa Rica is amazing for extreme surf, extreme wind for kiteboarding and windsurfing".
