Mauritius

"Mauritius was made first, and then heaven; and heaven was copied after Mauritius" wrote Mark Twain. And he was absolutely right: Mauritius has everything that heaven must have: turquoise lagoons, sandy beaches with swaying palms, bizarre mountain peaks.

And, what is more important for windsurfers and kitesurfers, Mauritius has at least 300 windy days a year. Plus, touch-the-bottom lagoon, warm water, sandy beach - a true heaven for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Winter on Mauritius is from May to September; this is when the trade winds are at their best, but even in the remaining months of the year, the trade winds still offer windsurfers excellent conditions. Generally, the trade wind blows from east to southeast. From December to April, relatively heavy rain showers can be expected, which soon blow over, however.
