Rhodes

Rhodes is one of the Greek Dodecanese Islands located in the Aegean Sea 250 kilometres south east of the mainland (port of Piraeus). The name "Rhodes" comes from "island of the roses". Rhodes has a unique physical scenery that does not stop to impress its visitors. Also unique is its climate: Rhodes is called the island of sun because of its 320 days of sunshine a year.

Windsurfing season on Rhodes begins in March and lasts until the end of November, but the best time to go to Rhodes for windsurfing, of course, is the summer, especially the months of July and August. In the mornings the water is flat and the wind is calm, but by midday the wind picks up and the waves start to swell, and by the afternoon the wind is really blowing. In other words, the Rhodes windsurfing conditions are good for surfers of all ages and abilities.

The Island has around 90.000 inhabitants of which 50.000 live in the main city, Rhodes town. Here you'll find plenty of things to beside windsurfing. Rhodes has many places of interest to explore: ruins, traditional Greek villages with sugar cubed houses, old castle in Rhodes town. There are wonderful Tavernas serving Greek meze (small plates of everything imaginable), ouzo, fresh fish you'll find anywhere and local wines.
